Weber State head football coach Ron McBride was released from the Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello, Idaho last Sunday after being hospitalized when he got ill during last weekend's game.
McBride, was taken to a nearby clinic on a golf cart in the second half of the Wildcats' 59-27 victory over Idaho State after experiencing a shortness of breath and lightheadedness. According to WSU defensive coordinator Kevin Clune, McBride was "chewing someone out" and got out of breath.
"He's a tough old man and will fight through this," Clune said.
Results from the hospital tests returned negative although McBride spent the night at the hospital. The 69-year old mentor, who has suffered two heart attacks, was planning to see his heart doctor early this week.
The Wildcats' win over ISU gave the team the Big Sky Conference championship. McBride has recently accepted a new four-year contract that would extend his tenure with WSU through 2012.
