Tyler Sheehan (born Tyler Allen Sheehan on November 17, 1987) plays quarterback for the Bowling Green State University Falcons in the NCAA college football tournament. Sheehan's name has been often written alongside Omar Jacobs' and Josh Harris', two former Bowling Green quarterbacks who have revolutionized the position at BGSU. After winning the QB competition during his sophomore season despite the lack of experience, Sheehan proved that he can handle the pressure of the Falcons' demanding offense and responded by leading BGSU to a season-opening overtime win over Minnesota before going on to finish his first full season as starter with over 3,000 passing yards and 23 touchdown strikes. He also racked up 200 or more passing yardage and atleast 2 TDs in 20 of the team's 12 regular-season games.

Personal Life

Tyler is the son of former Wooster football standout Dale Sheehan and wife Rosalyn. He majored in sociology at Bowling Green State University. Tyler often wears a hat in public to conceal himself from fans and supporters but admitted that "It doesn't always work."

High School

Sheehan was a three-year letterwinner in football at LaSalle High School where he played under head coach Tom Grippa. During his stint, he not only set the records for the Fewest Passes Intercepted for over 50 attempts (only 2 interceptions in 2004) and the points from passing (11 TDs for 66 points in 2005), he also helped the Lancers improve their 6-5 finishes in 2003 and 2004 to a 8-2 finish in 2005. After leading the team to a second place finish with a 2-1 record in the GCL during his senior year, Sheenan was named as the team's Most Valuable Player to go along an All-Conference selection and a Conference Quarterback of the Year honors. His performance also garnered him Honorable Mention All-City, All-District and All-Southwest Ohio selections in 2005. Sheehan, who was also a two-time letterwinner for the Lancers baseball squad, graduated from LaSalle High School in 2006.

College

Sheehan, an unranked, 2-star rated quarterback, chose to sign his letter of intent with Bowling Green and play for the Falcons over Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio) and Michigan.

2006

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Sheehan played behind Anthony Turner and Freddie Barnes during his freshman year. He made his collegiate debut in a 3-38 loss to Kent State where he completed 8-of-14 passes for 64 yards with his first career interception, to go along with his 7 carries, and 1 tackle on defense. He made his second appearance @ Ohio State but failed to complete a pass in two attempts in the 7-35 loss. He had his longest stay on the field in the 14-28 loss @ Temple, completing 12-of-20 passes for 95 yards but had two interceptions and was taken down twice by the Owl defense. In the regular season finale, he was 3-for-7 for 33 yards with his 4th interception of the season in the 21-31 loss to Toledo. Sheehan finished the season completing 23-of-43 or 53.5% of his passes with a quarterback rating of 72.39.

2007

After playing back-up during his rookie year, Sheehan entered fall camp in tight competition with Turner for the starting spot. Towards the end of training camp, however, Sheehan surged ahead thanks in part to the change in throwing style from the side-arm position to a more conventional over-the-top and shoulder pointed approach. By the 27th of August, five days before the season opener, Sheehan was named as the Falcons' starting quarterback.

His first start of the season took place @ Minnesota in a memorable game where he led Bowling Green to a 32-31 victory in overtime. During that game, Sheehan rallied the Falcons to a 12-play drive from their own 14-yard line that concluded with a Sinisa Vrvilo-field goal that knotted the count at 24 with three seconds left in regulation. During the extra period and with the Falcons down 31-24, Sheehan hit Marques Parks for a 9-yard touchdown and then connected with Freddie Barnes for the two-point conversion and the win. He concluded that game going 34-for-51 for 388 yards and two touchdowns, also catching his first career touchdown reception for 24 yards against the Gophers. The following week, the Falcons travelled to Michigan State but was sent packing with a 17-28 loss as Sheehan completed 32-of-50 passes for 295 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had a season high 13 carries and his first career scoring run but unfortunately had 2 pick-offs. The Falcons returned home and scored back-to-back high scoring wins over Temple (48 pts.) and Western Kentucky (41 pts.), with Sheehan completing 30-of-47 for 351 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Owls and going 31-for-42 for 270 yards and three scores with 1 scoring run against the Hilltoppers.

For the next three weeks, Bowling Green returned on the road to take on Boston College, Miami (Ohio), and Kent State. Sheehan had one of his worst performances of the season against the Eagles where he was intercepted five times, going 27-of-43 for 275 yards and 1 TD in the 24-55 loss. He was also shut-out by the Redhawks, completing 16-of-27 passes for a season low 140 yards in the 14-47 loss. Bowling Green returned in the winning column with a win against the Golden Flashes as Sheehan connected on 14 of 25 passes for 184 yards and 2 TDs. In back-to-back homestand against Ohio and Akron, Sheehan was 19 of 41 for 249 yards and 2 TDs with 1 INT in the 27-38 loss to the Bobcats and connected on 26 of his 36 passes for 268 yards and 2 TDs in the 44-20 win over the Zips. The Falcons returned on the road for the last time and got out of Eastern Michigan with a 39-32 squeaker with Sheehan going 20-of-32 for 230 yards and 1 TD along with 1 scoring run. He also led BG to a 31-17 win @ Buffalo, completing 20-of-29 passes for 248 yards and 2 TDs with his second TD reception of the season. In the regular season finale against Toledo, Sheehan was 20-for-34 for 225 yards and 3 TDs with 10 carries for 43 yards in the 37-10 win over the Bulls.

Sheehan made his postseason debut at the GMAC Bowl against Conference USA's Tulsa. Unfortunately, it was a short stint on the field as he left the game with seconds remaining in the first half after suffering a sprained left ankle [1]. He managed to register 141 yards on 14-of-19 completion in the 7-63 loss. He finished his sophomore season completing 303 of 476 passes (2nd most in school history) for 3,264 yards (4th BG QB in school history to throw for 3,000+ yards in a season) and 23 TDs with 11 INTs and 132.59 QB rating. He was also second behind converted rusher Turner in the team in terms of carries (93) and scoring runs (3) and 5th in rush yards with 148. He capped the year off with a third team All-MAC accolade.

2008

In the 2008 Bowling Green State University annual Spring Game, Sheehan split time between the Brown and Orange squads, tallying a combined stat of 25-of-38 completion for 236 yards.
