Thomas Weber (Born Thomas Edward Weber on September 27, 1987 in Downey, CA) is the playkicker for the Arizona State Sun Devils in the NCAA college football tournament. In just his freshman year, Weber has developed into one of the nation's top kickers in 2007. He converted the first 17 field goals of his collegiate career, and only missed once to end the season. He emerged as the league's top scorer and is tied for the Pac-10 freshman record for field goals in a season with current UCLA kicker Kai Forbath. Weber's first regular season ended with several awards in tow, including the most prestigous Lou Groza Award and became the 12th different Sun Devil (second ASU place kicker honored after Luis Zendejas in 1983) to earn All-America status from the Walter Camp Football Foundation. He is also one of only two freshmen honored as All-Americans this year, joining Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree.

Personal Life
Thomas is one of two children of John (lawyer) and Mary (registered nurse), both boys. Unlike his older brother Joseph who played football, Thomas was primarily interested in playing soccer. A kinesiology major at ASU, Thomas is contemplating a career in physical therapy.
High School
Weber's interest in football first came when he attended a football practice of his older brother. After the freshman coach saw him kicking the football, Weber was urged to join the team. He was hesitant to be part of the team but was later on convinced to become the field goal kicker for the Loyola High School Cubs. Weber lettered in both football and track at Loyola and played under the tutelage of coach Steve Gandy. He earned first-team All-Serra League honors in 2003 and 2004 and was named to the All-Central City Team buy The Los Angeles Times. Before graduating in 2005, Weber got his leg broken while playing soccer during his senior year which limited his chances of earning scholarships from several colleges.
College
After high school and the his leg injury, Weber decided to greyshirt (committed but has not attended classes yet to earn an extra year of eligibility) at Michigan State in the fall of 2005. He took one class at Cerritos Community College in Norwalk, California in the fall and then enrolled at Michigan State in the spring. However, his stay in Michigan State "did not work out" and Weber decided to attend a Chris Sailer Camp (camp specifically for kickers, punters and long-snappers) in the summer.
2006
Weber was spotted by former special teams coach Tom Osborne and was offered a spot on the Sun Devils' football squad. He redshirted as a member of ASU's scout team and became an understudy of four-year kicker Jesse Ainsworth.
2007
Weber, a walk-on, earned a scholarship from former coach Dirk Koetter after the 2006 season concluded. He was poised to replace Ainsworth as the team's no.1 placekicker, but had to compete with true freshman Zach Richards for the spot. Weber however gained the nod of coach Dennis Erickson before the season began. He started his rookie campaign connecting his first field goal attempt and all of his 6 PAT attempts in the season-opening win over San Jose State. Weber went on to set a school record by making the first 17 field goal attempts of his career, breaking the previous ASU record of 9 by Luis Zendejas in 1981 which was matched by his brother Alan in 1987. The streak included four and three FGs conversion in Stanford and Oregon State, respectively, as well as the 37-yard game-winner he knocked in against Washington State. Halfway through the season, Weber also took over the punting duties for the Sun Devils and has punted 42 yards with an average of 39.6 yards.
Weber capped his debut season converting 22-of-23 field goals while making 42-of-44 PAT attempts to earn the 16th Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award for the best placekicker in college football.
