Southeastern Louisiana will be playing the rest of the year without head football coach Mike Lucas as the second-year mentor has a heart condition.
With Lucas scheduled to undergo a heart valve procedure, the Lions will be handled by offensive coordinator Tommy Condell for the last six games of the year.
“I have total faith in Tommy Condell, my coaching staff and our student-athletes in continuing to build on the foundation of a championship football team,” Lucas said.
Southeastern (3-3, 0-1 SLC) plays Southland Conference rival Northwestern State (4-2, 1-0) in a homecoming game on Saturday.
