Ryan Grice-Mullen (Born September 12, 1986 in Rialto, CA) plays wide receiver for the Hawai'i Warriors in the NCAA college football tournament. Grice-Mullen is one of Heisman 2nd runner-up Colt Brennan's wingmen that made history in 2007 by becoming the first recepient of the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Unit of the Year. Along with the rest of the Warriors' offense, Grice-Mullen helped Hawai'i go undefeated in 12 games and lead the nation in scoring with 46.2 points per game highlighting a record-breaking season for the school. As a freshman, the dreadlocked receiver already made it to the record books along with teammate Davone Bess as the first pair in UH history, and the 4th in WAC, to both catch 1,000+ yards in the same season and went on to lead the league in receiving ypg with his 102.3 average by the end of that season. Fast forward two years later and Grice-Mullen has already amassed 3,333 career yards which is good for no.7 in the WAC's all-time list and 4th in the nation's active leaders. He capped his regular season junior year ranked #5 in the nation with 111.25 receiving yards per game.

Personal Life

Ryan is the son of Sheila and Alvin Pinkney of Rialto, Calif. Grice-Mullen, who used to sport no.19 on his jersey, said that he picked that number because he did not want an 80's number. He once wore no.17 in high school and said that no.19 was the closest that was available. [1] He is now wearing no.1 in Hawai'i's black and white jerseys.

High School

Grice-Mullen played for Rialto High School in California during his prep years where he earned three varsity letters in football and one in track. His speed and versatility was evident during his high school days as he played multiple positions for Rialto, namely quarterback, defensive back, and running back spots. As a senior, Grice-Mullen rushed for 1,155 yards on 153 carries and was named all-county and all-league. Off the field, Grice-Mullen was also an honor-roll student.

Following his redshirt year, Grice-Mullen had a breakthrough performance on his first stint in collegiate football, playing in all of Hawaii's 12 games making 11 starts. In his debut against USC, Grice-Mullen caught 5 passes for 51 yards with a 25-yard long catch. He scored his first touchdown three games later in a loss to Boise State, catching nine passes for a season-high 188 yards and two TDs in the loss to the Broncos. He scored a season-best 4 TDs two weeks later in a win over New Mexico State and caught a season high 11 catches in a loss to Wisconsin. He went on to finish the season with 85 catches for 1,228 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns enroute to being named Freshman All-American by several publications. Davone Bess and Grice-Mullen also became the first tandem in school history and fourth in WAC history to each reach 1,000 receiving yards. Grice-Mullen emerged from the pack that year after leading the WAC and placing 6th in the nation averaging 102.3 receiving yards per game while at the same time ranking fifth in the league averaging 103.8 all-purpose yards.
