Percy Harvin (born William Percy Harvin III on May 28, 1988 in Virginia Beach, Virginia) plays wide receiver for the Florida Gators in the NCAA college football tournament. After a successful rookie year capped by a SEC Championship MVP and SEC Freshman of the Year honors, Harvin was plagued with injuries and illnesses in his sophomore year, including a serious sinus infection that took him out of action for quite some time. However, despite only appearing in 10 games, Harvin managed to produce satisfactory numbers to emerge as the team's number two rusher and receiver with an 8.6 yards per carry (599 yards and five touchdowns on 70 carries) and a 15.6 yards per catch (781 yards and three touchdowns on 50 catches) averages. Many believe Harvin will have a breakout junior season if he stays healthy all-season long.

High School
Harvin, a multi-sport star, was tagged with a "problem-child" image when he was still a high school athlete at Landstown High in Virginia Beach, which produced renowned athletes such as Allen Iversion and Michael Vick. He was repeatedly suspended for on- and off-the-field altercations including a bench-clearing altercation in a February basketball game that caused his banning from all athletics.
As a basketball cager, Harvin played guard and helped his basketball team to the state title game in a losing cause to Woodside of Newport News during his junior year. As a track athlete, Harvin became the first Virginia prep in 69 years to win five gold medals at the state 3A track meet. He won the 100 meters with a time of 10.69 and finished first in the 200 in 21.59. His mark of 23 feet, 5.5 inches gave him the long jump title, and he won the triple jump with a 47-7 effort. He also ran a leg on Landstown’s victorous 4x100m relay team. He had a hand in 40 of Landstown’s 42 points as the Eagles tied for first in the team standings. In his last track outing, he won the 55m (6.37), the long jump (22-11) and the triple jump (45-7) while also running a leg on the winning 800m relay team.
Harvin was equally successful on the football field, playing as a wide receiver and a running back under coach Chris Beatty. As a junior, the Landstown team captain caught 58 passes for 1,016 yards (17.5 per catch) and 17 touchdowns to go along with his 68 carries for 726 yards (10.7 per carry) and 10 touchdowns in helping lead his team to the Group AAA state championship and earning for himself the 2004 Beach District and Eastern Region Offensive Player of the Year and the 2004 Rivals.com National Junior of the Year accolades.
The following season, Harvin caught 75 passes for 1,313 yards with 14 touchdown receptions while also rushing for 504 yards and 13 touchdowns. He then went on to close the regular season with 6 carries for a season high 105 yards (first Gator to rush for over 100 yards in over two months) including a career-long 67-yard scoring run against Arkansas to earn for himself the SEC Championship Game MVP honors. Harvin made his postseason debut in the BCS National Championship Game, leading the Gators in receiving yards with 60 and a career-high 9 receptions in the win against Ohio State.

He set a career-high in receptions (11) and receiving yards (121) against Mississippi but made history weeks later against Vanderbilt after rushing for 113 yards (2 TDs, 11 carries) and catching 110 yards (9 receptions) to become the first Gator in history to compile 100-yards on both receiving and rushing in a single game. He then went on to finish the regular season with a career-high 157 rushing yards on personal-best 16 carries with five catches for 67 yards against Florida State to garner the SEC Week 13 Outstanding Performance honors. Harvin then made his second-straight postseason appearance at the Capital One Bowl, catching 9 passes for 77 yards and a score while rushing 13 times for a career-high 165 yards and one touchdown against Michigan.
