Patrick White, born February 25, 1986 in Daphne, Alabama plays quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers in the NCAA college football tournament. White, along with teammate Steve Slaton form a formidable 1-2 punch for the Mountaineers with the duo becoming only the third pair in NCAA D-I history to both rush for 200+ yards in the same game during the WVU-Pitt game on 11.16.06. Like Slaton, White has also broken or set several school, conference, and even national records. He holds the Big East Conference and West Virginia University career rushing yardage record for a quarterback. He also broke the Single Game rushing record previously set by Michael Vick. Pat is one of only eight players in NCAA history to rush and pass for more than 200 yards in a game (Pitt 2006, 220 rushing and 204 passing). He also has led WVU to fifteen wins in 17 games whenever he starts. Pat's younger brother, Coley White, currently has an offer as a recruit to West Virginia.

High School
Pat was involved in both baseball and football during his high school days. In the field of baseball, the 6-2" pitcher was picked by the Anaheim Angels in the fourth-round of the 2004 MLB draft. In the football field, the athletic class 6-A All-State first string quarterback showed his versatility after passing for 1,488 yards with 15 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,905 yards and 31 scoring runs as a senior, earning the 3rd place spot in the Mr. Football for Alabama.
College
2005
After sitting out his academic freshman year as a redshirt, White became a co-starter in the West Virginia football team with Adam Bednarik a year later. He had his big break in a game against Louisville when Bednarik left the game due to injury. White took over to rally the Mountaineers past the Cardinals, turning a 7-24 deficit into a 46-44 triple overtime win. White started the rest of the season for WVU, turning up several notable performances including a superb game in a 45-13 win against Pittsburgh in the Backyard Brawl rivalry game, where he threw for 41 yards and a touchdown and ran for 220 yards and 2 scores. He also registered a career long of 76 rush yards that season against South Florida. WVU won every game since White's took over as starting QB, enroute to a Big East Conference title for the Mountaineers and a spot at the 2006 Sugar Bowl opposite the Georgia Bulldogs. That game, White ran for 77 yards and threw 120 yards and a score to give the Mountaineers a 38-35 Bowl Game win. White concluded his redshirt freshman year passing for 828 yards and 8 touchdowns. He also collected 952 yards and 7 touchdowns which was then the record for most rush yards by a QB until White himself broke it the following season.
2006
With his splendid performance in his first year at the Mountaineer line-up, White gained hype even before the season began on his redshirt sophomore year. He graced one of the 6 regional covers of the Sports Illustrated issue (08.21.06) along with teammates running back Steve Slaton, and fullback Owen Schmitt. He was also one of the 35 players listed on the Walter Camp Football Foundation Player of the Year award watchlist.
White turned out memorable performances against Syracuse (career-high 247 rush yards and scored 4 TDs), Lousiville (222 pass yards, 125 rush yards, 4 TDs) and rival Pittsburgh. During the Pitt rivalry game, White wrote himself in the record books when he became one of only eight players in NCAA history to rush and pass for 200+ yards in the same game after he threw for 204 yards and 2 TDs and ran for 220 yards and a pair of scores in a 45-27 win. White also help the Mountaineers advance into the 2006 Gator Bowl against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, where despite getting hampered with ankle, neck, and wrist injuries, he help WVU overcome an 18-point third quarter deficit to a 38-35 win. White was eventually rewarded for his efforts with the Gator Bowl MVP award after registering 145 rush yards and a TD run along with his 131 pass yards and 2 TDs.
The 2006 Alabama Athlete of the Year awardee finished the season with 1,655 pass yards and 13 TDs along with 1,219 rush yards and 18 TDs to bag the Big East Offensive Player of the Year award. His total rushing yards also broke his previous school record for most rush yards by a WVU QB while his rush TDs ties running backs Ira Errett Rodgers and Amos Zereoue for the school record.
2007
White was named as one of the top 10 quarterbacks going into the 2007 season by Rivals.com. He also is a frontrunner to the Heisman trophy with teammate Slaton.
West Virginia was off to a blazing start in 2007 with White taking charge of the Mountaineer offense. The dynamic playcaller accounted for a total of four touchdowns, 2 on the air and a couple more on the run to go along with his 192 passing and 97 rushing yards in the 62-24 season-opening massacre of Western Michigan at home. The following week, he produced 100+ yards on both passing and rushing (149 and 125 respectively) with 3 total touchdowns as WVU stopped Marshall 48-23 on the road. In the win over East Carolina, White recorded 2 TDs a piece thru passes and rushes, had 1 and 1 @ Syracuse, and 2 & 1 against Mississippi State. In the 31-3 road victory over Rutgers, White was limited to 1 rushing TD, but had his second 100-100 game of the season (144 pass yards and 156 rush yards) which began the string of 100-100 games, with 181 passing and 147 rushing yards in a win against Louisville, 140 and 155 in a road win at Cincinnati, capped by his 107-186 yard performance in a 66-21 victory over Connecticut. West Virginia's national title conquest however suffered a road block as the 2nd-ranked Mountaineers got upset by lowly rival Pittsburgh on their own turf in the regular season ender, losing in a low-scoring affair, 9-13. White, who sustained a thumb injury in the second quarter, went TD-less in the game, completing 5 of 10 passes for 50 yards and rushing 14 times for 41 yards in the defeat that put WVU out of the BCS championship race. WVU however rebounded with a vengeance in the postseason as the Mountaineers, sans coach Rich Rodriguez who jumpshipped to Michigan, took out all their frustrations in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl with a 48-28 dumping of Oklahoma with a recovered White coming away with 176 yards and 2 TDs in a 10-of-19 completion to go along his 150 rushing yards on 20 carries. For his efforts, White was awarded with a share of the Game MVP with offensive linebacker Reed Williams.
By season's end, White emerged as the team's top rusher, #3 in the Big East and #26 in the nation, with 1,335 yards on 197 carries. He was also 5th in the league and #44 in the nation in total offense with 3,059 yards on 413 plays for an average of 235.3 yards per game. In terms of passing, he was 8th in the Big East in passing yards per game, and 2nd in the conference and 10th in the nation in passing efficiency.
