Oklahoma defensive end Frank Alexander was one of three people wounded in a violent fight at a local nightclub early Sunday morning.
According to reports, the brawl which was said to have involved knives, guns and tire irons at Sooner Knights, had Alexander, freshman basketball guard Ray Willis, and 19-year old Rachel Taylor treated at the Norman Regional Hospital. The two athletes sustained knife wounds while Taylor was hit by a car during the incident.
Both Alexander and Willis, who were taken by a private vehicle to the hospital, underwent surgery because of the severity of their injuries. Alexander and Taylor were released from the hospital after being treated while Willis, who sustained multiple wounds, including a side puncture that caused muscle damage and a partially collapsed lung, was just released Wednesday.
According to police reports, the fight was initiated by a group of people who attempted to crash a private party at the club. When they were denied entry, the alleged suspects attacked the invited guests using knives, guns and tire irons.
Police are still investigating the incident and arrests have yet to be made. Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops declined to comment on the matter but said that he was aware that two OU athletes were hurt.
