Mike Teel (born on January 6, 1986 in Ramsey, New Jersey) plays quarterback for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in the NCAA college football tournament. Teel was one of the most sought after quarterbacks of his class after a remarkable high school career at Don Bosco Prep School. In his three seasons at Rutgers, Teel has progressed year after year, providing a steady compliment on the Scarlet Knights' running attack that featured renowned rusher Ray Rice. Unfortunately during his junior season, Teel was hounded by a thumb injury that greatly affected his game almost all season long.

Personal Life
Mike is the son of Mike Teel, Sr., an all-state football and baseball player in high school who coached him in football early on as a kid and who he considers as one of his two role models. His other role model is Phil Simms whom he worked with in 8th grade. Among the NFL playcallers, Mike wants to liken his style to Tom Brady's because of his leadership as well as his coolness and calmness on the pocket. During his spare time, he likes to spend his time hanging out and watching (basketball) games with his friends, or just focusing on his academic stuff.
High School
Teel attended the Don Bosco Prep School in Oakland, N.J. where he was considered to be the the best quarterback in the state of New Jersey. In his junior season, he completed 117-of-179 passes (65%) for 2,159 yards and 28 touchdowns in leading Don Bosco to the Parochial Group IV State Championship and a number 1 ranking in the state, in the process, earning for himself a First Team All State, All-Parochial, All-Bergen County, and an AP Junior All-American selections. The following year, he stretched Don Bosco's winning streak to 23, including an immaculate 11-0 record in 2003, as his school made it a back-to-back state championship reign after throwing for 1,891 yards and 21 touchdowns. Teel, who led the team to another #1 ranking in the state, was once again recognized for his efforts with another First Team All State, All-Parochial, and All-Bergen County honors. By the end of his high school career, The Insiders.com ranked him as the nation's 48th-best quarterback while Rivals.com rated him as the 23rd-best player in New Jersey.
College
A three-star rated QB and the 47th best prospect by Scout.com entering college, Teel received offers from both Rutgers and Penn State, and was also considering Boston College, Maryland, and Virginia for awhile but ended up signing with the Scarlet Knights.
2004
As a freshman, Teel redshirted for the team and helped out in the RU's practices as member of the scout team.
2005
During his redshirt freshman year, Teel played in 9 of 12 games with three outings on the starting spot as he split time on the playcalling duties with Ryan Hart. He made his debut in the second game of the season, leading the Scarlet Knights to an 88-yard scoring drive while completing 3 of 6 passes for 42 yards in a victory over Villanova. He made another brief appearance the following week @ Buffalo, completing 1 of 2 passes for 7 yards with 1 interception. He also threw 43 yards on 2 of 3 passing in a win against Pittsburgh, completed 9-of-15 passes for 105 yards in a loss against West Virginia, before dishing out a noteworthy performance in his first career start against Syracuse. He recorded season best numbers in completions (13), attempts (27), passing yards (203), and TDs (2) in leading the Scarlet Knights to a win over the Orange. At UConn, Teel completed 10 of 22 passes for 176 yards including a season-long 38-yard strike to TE Clark Harris as RU won a 26-24 squeaker. In his last game of the year, Teel went 12 of 24 for 91 yards in a lopsided 5-56 loss @ Louisville.
2006
By 2006, the starting quarterback job was all for Teel's taking and he did not waste any time proving he deserved it. In the season opener against North Carolina, he passed for 145 yards on 14 of 20 completion as the Knights edged the Tar Heels, 21-16. The following week, RU shut out Illinois, 33-0 with Teel completing 14 of 24 passes for 145 yards and 1 TD. Rutgers went on a 9-game winning streak to begin the season, and Teel had some notable performances during that span as he racked up a career high 3 touchdown passes (15-of-26 for 215 yards) in Rutgers second shutout win of the season @ Navy, an effort good enough for a Big East weekly accolade. For awhile though, the fans seemed unconvinced of Teel's performance, which may have changed after he led RU to an incredible finish against 3rd ranked Louisville. Teel threw a game long 67-yard pass to Kenny Britt then anchored the final drive with two crucial passes that led to Jeremy Ito's game-winning field goal. He completed the Cardinal game with 189 yards on 8 of 21 passing with 1 TD and 1 INT. But the Scarlet Knights' jubilation ended as RU got defeated by Cincinnati, 30-11. Despite the loss, he established season best in completions (21) and attempts (42) for 238 yards but was picked off 4 times. In RU's rebound game, Teel went 10-of-15 for 146 yards with a couple of TD passes to Britt both on the first half as the Scarlet Knights defeated the Orange, 38-7. In the regular season-finale at West Virginia, Teel produced a career game as he went 19-for-26 (career best of 73-percent completion rate) for a career-high 278 yards and a 72-yard TD connection to Tim Brown, unfortunately, RU came up two points short of WVU in overtime, 39-41. In his first postseason start, he went 16 of 28 for 268 yards and 2 TDs (14-yard and 49-yard) as RU edged out Kansas State, 37-10 in the Texas Bowl in Houston.
Teel capped the year going 164 (tied for 7th in Rutgers' single-season history) for 296 (9th in RU 1-season history) for 2,135 yards (tied for 7th in Rutgers' single-season history) and 12 touchdowns.
2007
Teel returned in 2007 for his second consecutive season as starter. He opened the year the same way he started the previous season, with a win, as RU turned back Buffalo 38-3. He produced a rare 300-yard game (328 pass yards on 16 of 23 completion) with 2 TDs (both to Tiquan Underwood) against the Bulls. The following week, he recorded only the 2nd 3-TD game of his career after completing 14 of 19 passes for 266 yards, but had his 1st interception after 125 passes that dated back to last season. He followed it up with Big East Player of the Week-worthy performance with another 3-TD game against Norfolk State, completing 8 of 15 passes for 269 yards in the 59-0 shut-out. Teel recorded the second and third 300-yard games of his career against Maryland (25-of-44 for 310 yards) and Cincinnati (22-of-38 for 334 yards), unfortunately, both feats came in losses. Since then, RU went on a roller coaster ride, winning two @ Syracuse (20 for 29, 310 yards and 2 TDs for Teel) and 2nd-ranked South Florida (11-of-29 for 179 yards and 2 TDs); losing two to West Virginia (14-of-30 for 128 yards with 2 INTs) and UConn (season best numbers with 32 completions, 52 attempts, and 343 passing yards); won twice again @ Army (1-for-4 for for 14 yards; suffered thumb injury) and Pitt (3-for-9 for 98 yards and 1 TD); before losing the regular season finale @ Louisville (21-of-32 for 265 yards and 2 TDs).
In his second postseason appearance, Teel went 16-for-25 for 303 yards and 3 TDs as RU bagged their second straight bowl win, this tme against Ball State in the International Bowl. Inspite of an injury-plagued season, Teel managed to throw for 3,147 yards (2nd in RU single-season history) on 203 completions (4th in RU single-season history) with 20 touchdown passes (most in Rutgers single-season history) and six 300-yard passing games while leading the Rutgers offense that for the first time in NCAA history, had a 3,000-yard passer, 2,000-yard rusher and two 1,000-yard receivers in the same season.
