Jamar Wall (born January 10, 1988 in Lubbock, Texas) is a defensive back for the Texas Tech University Red Raiders in the NCAA college football tournament. An offensive spark plug in high school, Wall was a revelation in the Red Raiders defense in 2007 when he picked off five passes and nearly quintupled his tackle output. Despite battling some injuries early in his Texas Tech career, Wall has slowly weasled his way into the starting lineup and has emerged as the Red Raiders' best cover threat with his athleticism not to mention his 6'9" high jump and 22' long jump.

Personal Life
Jamar is the youngest of Georgia and Jerry Wall's four children. He has three siblings, an older brother and two older sisters. His brother Koy Smith was also a Red Raider like him but played for the basketball team at Texas Tech. Jamar is the cousin of Southern Methodist quarterback Justin Willis. In fact, the two got involved in a number of sports together when they were younger, from football to baseball, to basketball. The two parted ways when Willis moved to Sanger when he was in eighth grade because his father got a job there. When he's not on the football field, Jamar likes to listen to music or play other sports.
High School/Prep
Wall went to Plainview High School in Plainview, Texas where he played football under the tutelage of head coach Marty McClintock. Although utilized in multiple positions, Wall earned his reputation as one of South Plains finest offensive weapon while playing as a running back. When he was a junior, Wall had 308 carries for 2,024 yards rushing and 28 touchdowns while catching 10 passes for 113 yards to earn Class 4A All-State first team honors. Entering his senior year, Wall was projected to duplicate his performance and was tabbed as the preseason Offensive MVP by the Texas HS Football website. And sure enough, the following season he led Class 4A in rushing yards and scoring after rushing for 2,735 yards and 42 touchdowns, including a spectacular performance against Hereford where he rushed for 406 of 466 total yards in the first half with a whooping 23.3 yards per carry average. He also finished the season with two interceptions and a punt return for a touchdown to help lead the Bulldogs to 12 consecutive wins and a quarterfinal playoff berth against Stephenville.
Wall's senior year performance placed him in select company as he became the second straight Plainview running back to post consecutive 2,000-yard seasons since Taber Minner did the trick in 2002 and 2003. He was named a Class 4A All-State selection and was a District 4-4A first team honoree as a running back, defensive back and punter. In addition, he was named to the Amarillo Globe-News Golden Spread Team and chosen as player of the year.

He did not play against Texas A&M and Missouri then returned in the roster at Colorado. Against Texas, he had a solo tackle and a pass break up in the 31-35 defeat to the Longhorns, then chipped in a tackle each in the 10-point setback at Oklahoma and in the regular season ending victory over Oklahoma State. He made his starting debut against cousin Justin and the rest of the Mustangs where he broke up two passes in the 40-point blow-out win. Against UTEP, he tallied three stops in the two-touchdown win over the Miners. He reclaimed the starting job against Northwestern State where he tallied five stops and made his season debut as returner, returning a punt and a kickoff for no gain in Texas Tech's 68-point blow-out victory. After a six-tackle effort against Iowa State, Wall delivered an all-around game against A&M, tallying five stops, breaking up a pass, and intercepting a pass for a 9-yard return to help the Red Raiders collect a four-touchdown triumph. Texas Tech's 3-game win streak was snapped at Missouri with Wall chipping in only a pair of stops although he did pick off a Chase Daniel pass. In another setback against Colorado, Wall contributed six tackles before adding three more with a pair of kickoff returns for a 13 yard gain and a kickoff for 21 yards in the 38-7 win at Baylor. Against 14th ranked Texas, Wall intercepted a pass and had five unassisted stops as the Red Raiders fell short, 43-59. In the regular season finale against Oklahoma, Wall had three solos and two pass break ups as Texas Tech knocked off the 3rd ranked Sooners from the national title picture with a 34-27 upset win.
