Born Glenn Jamon Dorsey on August 1, 1985 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Dorsey plays defensive tackle for the LSU Tigers in the NCAA college football tournament. At 6-foot-2, 299 lbs, Dorsey is one of the most talked about defensive players in college as he made it to every preseason All-America list prior to the 2007 season. Despite being projected as a first round NFL draft pick, Dorsey decided to finish his four years of eligibility to anchor a defensive line considered by many as the best in the nation going into 2007. Scouts describe Dorsey as a complete package that possess the right mix of size, strength, technique, and heart to be able to succeed at a higher level of competition.

Personal Life

Glenn is one of two children of Glenn and Sandra Dorsey. Glenn, or Putt to his friends and family (was nicknamed as such because when he was an infant, he would get up and walk over to the TV set when a Putt-Putt commercial would air), has one sibling; his sister Joi. Aside from the football field and the school, where he majors in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in psychology and sociology, Glenn also spends time in some communities in the Baton Rouge area and his hometown of Gonzales, interacting with kids and speaking with them about the importance of education.

High School

Even when he was still playing high school football at East Ascension High School, Dorsey was already one of the best players in defense as he got rated among the nation's top defensive linemen and one of the top three prospects in Louisiana. Under coach Billy Beasley, Dorsey shined on his junior year as he made over 100 tackles (12 for losses) and 12 sacks. He was sidelined for three games the following season due to ankle injury but nevertheless, he still managed to record 43 tackles (16 for losses), two sacks and one forced fumble as a senior. Among his awards and recognitions in high school include Louisiana's 4A Defensive Player of the Year award, a first-team 4A all-state pick, FSN South's Countdown to Signing Day "All-South" first team, getting listed to Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super Southern 100, Baton Rouge Advocate Super Dozen and New Orleans Times-Picayune's Top 20 Blue-Chip list. Dorsey was also named a Parade All-American and was rated as the No. 2 prospect in Louisiana by Rivals.com.

College

2004

As a freshman, Dorsey started in three of LSU's 12 assignments and made an immediate impact during his stints on the field. On his first collegiate snap, Dorsey was able to force a fumble against Oregon State. His first career start was also productive as he was able to register five tackles and a tackle for a 3-yard loss against Mississippi State. His other starts were against Florida and Georgia. He finished his rookie year with 18 tackles and two tackles for 4-yards in losses playing the defensive tackle position.

2005

Despite starting only 1 of LSU's thirteen games and playing behind All-American defensive tackles Kyle Williams and Claude Wroten, Dorsey still managed to up his numbers from the previous year as he finished the season with 28 tackles, four tackles for loss and three sacks. He even registered a career-high 5 tackles along with a tackle for a 1-yard loss against Vanderbilt.

2006

Dorsey's years playing behind and learning from his All-American teammates paid dividence during his junior season as he played a bigger role in the Tigers' campaign. Dorsey registered six tackles for loss in the first three LSU games of the year, before recording a career high 11 tackles against Mississippi. He bagged the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors twice for the season. The first award came against Arizona where he had four tackles, including 1.5 in losses while the second came in a game against Auburn where he collected eight tackles, and registered a career-high three TFLs, and 1.5 sacks. He concluded his third season as LSU's third-leading tackler with 64 stops, including 8.5 for losses and three sacks despite being double-teamed most of the year. Dorsey, who helped the Tigers limit the opposing squads to only 97.1 rushing yards per game, was named first-team All-American by several publications.

2007

Entering the 2007 season as one of the top prospects in the nation and registering 110 career tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and six sacks, Dorsey was named to the 2007 Playboy All-American team.
