Eugene Jarvis (Born October 1, 1987 in Pittsburgh, PA) plays running back for the Kent State Golden Flashes in the NCAA college football tournament. Jarvis is not your ordinary rusher as despite the lack of ceiling, at 5'5" he is still one of the more entertaining running backs in the nation. The Pittsburgh native has developed into one potent offensive option in the Kent State unit, ranking as one of the nation's best and most consistent RBs all season. In only his sophomore year, Jarvis has already broken the school record with his 1,669 yards rushing which placed 6th in MAC history. The team leader in TDs (13) also averaged 139.1 yards per game which is 5th in the nation and 1st in the league to become the first Golden Flash to top the MAC since 1988. His 1,975 all-purpose yards also ranked second in school history.

The following year, he bagged the same award after rushing for 2,196 yards and 38 touchdowns as a senior, leading the unbeaten Vikings (16-0) to the PIAA Class AAAA state championship. He finished his prep career rushing for more than 4,300 yards and scored 77 touchdowns in his last two years to claim the WPIAL Player of the Year in back-to-back occassions.

[edit] 2005
Jarvis ended up redshirting his first season of college football.
[edit] 2006
Jarvis made his collegiate football debut in his redshirt freshman year against Minnesota in the season opener. The Golden Flashes ended up being shut-out by the Golden Gophers, nonetheless Jarvis made a good account of himself by rushing for 109 yards on 15 carries. Jarvis did not score his first touchdown until his 6th game of the season, scoring three TDs and registering a season high 179 yards on 31 carries against Toledo. He concluded his rookie year as Kent State's leading rusher with 883 yards and three touchdowns and an average of 72.5 rush ypg (6th in the MAC) in 11 out of 12 games played. His three scores or 18 points against Toledo was tied at 4th in the team while his 179 in the same game was the highest rushing yardage output for a Kent State back in nine seasons. Jarvis was recognized as the team’s Offensive Rookie of the Year and shared the Matt Ramser Award with David Filippi as players who have shown the greatest improvement in spring drills.
[edit] 2007
Jarvis came back the following season to reclaim his starting spot at the RB position. He began the year with a solid 25-carry, 113-yard, 1-touchdown performance to carry the Golden Flashes to a season-opening win at Iowa State. Jarvis also retrieved the first TD catch of his career in a lopsided loss at Kentucky where he also rushed 20 times for 131 yards and a TD. Jarvis also scored at least a touchdown in the Golden Flashes' first six games before ending the year with 10 rushing touchdowns. He also posted new career highs in carries (34 against Buffalo), yards (230 against Ohio), long rush (67 @ Northern Illinois), and yards receiving (68 against Buffalo). He also recorded 100+ yards in 9 of Kent State's 12 games and went on to finish the season with 1,669 yards (new school record, 6th in the MAC) on 279 carries or an average of 139.1 yards per game (5th in the nation and 1st in the MAC). His 13 total touchdowns and 306 receiving yards (on 23 receptions) both lead the team as well. Jarvis went on to be named to the All-Mid-American Conference Team by the league and Rivals.com.
