The Colorado Buffaloes is the University of Colorado at Boulder's football squad which plays in NCAA Division I-A, Big 12 Conference, Northern Division. The football program is considered as the most famous athletic program in the school, one of the reasons why is the football program's success in the field since the late 19th century. Since being a part of the Colorado Football Association, the Buffaloes has been conference champions in seven occassions. From 1909 through 1937, Colorado joined the Rocky Mountain Ath. Conference and captured the conference title in eight occassions. From 1938 through 1947, the team joined the Mountain States Conference and was conference champs in four occassions. As a part of the Big 8 Conference in 1948, Colorado became conference champs in 1961, '76, '89, '90, and '91. It also captured the national title in 1990. After joining its current affiliation, the Big 12 COnference in 1996, Colorado went title-less until 2001, when it captured the Big 12 North Division title (which they also captured three more times in 2002, 2004, and 2005), and eventually the Big 12 Conference Championship.

Colorado is also a consistent fixture in post season Bowl games, participating 27 times since 1937 and winning twelve of them.

[edit] Highlights

2007 was a disappointing season for Colorado as the Buffaloes failed to finish with a winning mark. One bright spot during the season was the upset of 4th ranked Oklahoma at home via a buzzer-beating field goal.
