Boston College is one of the twelve teams that make up NCAA's Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). They are currently competing in Division I-Bowl Subdivision of NCAA Division I Football. Boston College, a founding member of the Big East conference, joined the Atlantic Coast Conference on July 1, 2005 and earned their first win as part of ACC against Clemson on September 24.

Boston College has had quite a success in terms of postseason bowls, slating a total of 13-6 win loss record in bowl game appearances and has the longest active winning bowl record in the nation with seven straight victories from 2000 to 2006. Their last win of the 2006 season came in December 30 against Navy, 25-24 for the Meineke Car Care Bowl.

BC had a recent staff change for the 2007 season, hiring Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski to replace Tom O'Brien as the head football coach.
